Ruth grew up in the Chirripó mountains in Costa Rica. She studied theology at the Central American Seminary in Guatemala. She also studied dental hygiene at the University of Costa Rica.
Having grown up in this area she saw first hand the need for the Word in native language.
WHAT SHE DOES
Summarizing a “job description” for a missionary is challenging due to the diversity of needs. Ruth collaborates with the main projects of both Timothy and David, as well as with the ministry work of Elizabeth and Lucy. Additionally, since joining, she has revitalized the literacy department which had been overlooked for many years due to a shortage of staff.

WHY SHE DOES IT
We often take many things for granted, one of which is the privilege to learn to read in our mother tongue. What some consider a basic right, for others, is an unattainable luxury. These disparities have inspired me from a young age to give back and serve the overlooked. I never felt an overwhelming calling, just an undeniable sense of purpose. Which is why my vision for my work is to bridge the gap in access to knowledge for a better understanding of Scripture, that way the people have a fighting chance to be an autonomous church.
